Sarah Hood

Large Tree Brooch
2007
sterling silver, 24k
2.5" x 2.5" x 0.5"

Sarah Hood works in an organic style that ranges from wearable jewelry to one-of-a-kind sculpture jewelry. Her current wearable series of work called Arbor stems from her pervious sculptural series called Landscape. She like to work in small scale in her work to explore her concepts and designs. In her past and present work she demonstrates her love for nature. This shows in her designs and choices of material which are organic and inorganic in an unexpected way. She uses sterling silver and 24k gold in the series Arbor which seems to have a growing quality to the pieces seem like they should growing. Her series Landscape creates miniature, artificial worlds within her jewelry with the use of model railroad landscape materials and sterling silver. Sarah Hood has been in four exhibitions as well as in five different magazines and books this past year.
