Arturo Rivera is a contemporary Mexican painter that cam into recognition around 1970 for his form of hyper-realism. Perfecting is imagery and technique through the 1980's and 90's, Rivera in 2005 won first prize at the Beijing International Art Biennial.
His scenes are dark, macabre, and occasionally anatomic perversions. Self portrait has always been an element in Rivera's work that both lets the artist develop an alter ego and investigate self.
